Trio Zalessky Jazz

Friday at the St.Andrew’s

The repertoire of the original trio includes not only author’s jazz music, but also creative reinterpretation of famous pieces and melodies of Russian classics and Soviet cinema.

Musicians are united by lightness and virtuosity of performance, rich nuance and thin, airy fabric of improvisations.
More often than not, meetings with listeners take place in special, ancient spaces that are conducive to immersion in the atmosphere of musical images:
The House of Writers in Tarusa, the Other Business gallery, Île Thélème, the Tsvetaevs’ House Museum in Moscow, the Golitsyn estate, the Nosov mansion, the Korovin estate in Okhotino.

It is enough to take a quick look at the track record of the mentioned personalities to anticipate a very interesting meeting with them.

Evgeny Grechishchev (piano)
Author of his own music and leader of the trio; besides, he is a famous jazz pedagogue who has brought up more than one generation of young talents. Evgeny Grechishchev is the author of a jazz piano textbook, and he can often be seen on the jury of various competitions for young jazz performers.

Vladimir Goloukhov (vibraphone)
Famous Moscow composer, vibraphonist and percussionist. Collaborated with Ravi Shankar, Edison Denisov, Rudolf Baumgarten.
According to independent journalists writing about jazz, Vladimir’s CDs with author’s music became the best in Russia and in Europe.

Denis Shushkov (double bass)
Graduate of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. Trained in the USA as part of the “Open
World” program. Worked with many musicians (Garanyan G.A., Kroll A.O., Danilin
V.N., A.A. Kuznetsov, Y.I. Markin, etc.). As a session musician
Collaborates with many Russian and foreign bands.

The trio released their debut CD “Dance of Beekeepers” on “Art beat” label

Zalessky Jazz Trio

Very recently created, the trio already performs on the best stages of Moscow. And it’s not
surprising, not only because it is composed of professionals of the highest level, who have a
huge amount of listening experience, but also because together they create some absolutely
new jazz works, which, in my honest opinion, may become the classics of jazz.
The recording you hear was made in the holy of holies of national music — in the Anglican
church, where for more than 40 years there was a studio of a company called «Melodiya».
The main condition for me was an absolute absence of processing and compressing during
live mixing into stereo phonogram, which was perfectly handled by one of the best sound
engineers today — Karina Avetian.

We wish you a pleasant listening experience!
